Chris W. Steffens was born in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Chris’s family traveled a lot – living in Louisiana, Maryland and California, but he spent his formative years growing up on a 5 acre ranch just off the Ninnescah River outside Belle Plaine, Kansas. Chris enjoyed many summers exploring the river, riding dirt bikes on the gravel roads and being close to nature.
The most important part of Chris’s life is his family. He enjoys going on walks and bike rides around the neighborhood with his young daughter. Chris considers his wife a life companion and best friend.
In Chris’s free time, he enjoys working on projects around the house and has become somewhat of an amateur electrician, carpenter and general handyman. He is also a skilled mechanic, gear head and enjoys working on cars. When he gets a chance – his hobbies include playing guitar and photography.
After graduating high school, Chris went to work at the Walmart photo lab – a job he would hold for nearly 10 years. Chris attended two years at Cowley County Community College before moving to Lawrence in 1998. In 2002 Chris graduated from The University of Kansas with a double major in History and Economics.
Upon graduating from the University of Kansas, Chris attended Washburn University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. in May 2005. Chris served on the Douglas County Criminal Defense Panel for 3 years before focusing exclusively on Bankruptcy Law.
Chris has over 10 years of experience and filed over 1,000 bankruptcy cases. He has a passion for helping others in need. He finds Bankruptcy Law fulfilling because it offers him the ability to positively change someone’s life. Chris is humbled for the opportunity to serve others and honors the trust that clients give him by providing the exceptional service they deserve.
